Patriotic songs were written mostly before 1975 during the anti-war movement with Khanh Ly (Ca Khuc Da Vang, Hat Tren Nhung Xac Nguoi, Dai Bac Ru Dem, ...). Songs about human life in Confucianism phylosophy were written mostly after 1975 (Cat Bui, Mot Coi Di Ve, ...). Love songs were written throughout all of his life beginning with the very first love song Uot Mi he wrote when he was only 19.
